LOL
I once had a friend that was studying to be a dentist that claimed the reason we had canine "type" teeeth and incisors was to ....get this....strip leaves off of branches.
I guess the concept of Omnivores and opportunistic eating habits in mammals are concepts totally lost on some people.
look at the diets of all large order apes and primates (our closest relative), all of them will eat meat when it is presented to them. they will periodically even hunt their prey.

Furthermore, I was talking about vegans being unhealthy looking, but vegetarians are also far from healthy. While some look normal, many MANY vegetarians are often anemic, and if/when they get sick, they take 3 times longer to recover, because their body is so weak.
Do as you wish, I personally don't give a rat's ass, but please, spare us the bullsh!t of telling everyone that vegetarianism/veganism is healthy.
A friend of mine who regularly would work out started a no-meat diet, it took 1 week before he caught the flu and pneumonia, and he was out for 3-4 weeks. Our bodies need meat!! If anything, we should be eating nothing but meat and fat, NO veggies (all starch and carbs). Our bodies aren't designed to break down heavy starches and long chain carbs. I WANT BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEF

I'd like to see you explain that to Bill Pearl or Andreas Cahling
Both long time Veggies - and really big guys...
My bro was a semi-pro body builder.... I unfortunately know all to much about gym stuff...
eating meat has got LITTLE or NOTHING to do with body building.
... meat just tastes good -- which is fine.
as a good friend of mine says...
If god hadn't wanted us to eat animals - he wouldn't have made them out of meat

I'm a bit surprised that many here are so strongly opposed to vegetarianism. I can understand thinking that a vegan lifestyle is unhealthy since they need to supplement their diet with pills/vitamins.
I think some of the pro-meat/anti-vegetable people neglect to consider are several groups that practice vegetarianism - buddahist monks (including some shaolin), & 7th day adventists. They don't seem to have any showings of the negative anecdotal evidence that has been mentioned previously.
Personally I don't there is anything is wrong with pursuing that sort of lifestyle, but am surprised at strong opposition to even eating food not containing meat.

Some folks like to think if you don't eat meat, you're not a manly man.
Yet the guys who really like to eat meat are usually pretty fem.

The fact is you need protein particularly in your diet, much more than you need starches and carbs which is found in most plants. You can eat peanut butter, it has plenty of protein and fat, but honestly who eats peanut butter more than 2 times a week? I don't know how you're going to get all the amino acids from a vegan diet, I'm sure there are ways, but you will be hurting yourself unless you are a "smart" vegan from the get-go and make sure you are providing your body with the essentials.
This is more about the lay person and the fact that they aren't going to line up a handful of supplements they need to take in order to gain muscle mass and still be vegan. For the average person, not eating meat is debilitating.

My friend isn't a body builder, and I don't think those guys you linked to got to their size by eating celery and peanuts...

Soybeans are considered by some to be a "complete protein" source in that they provide all the essential amino acids for human nutrition.

innuendo? meat eaters are gay? Not very airgate-like, imo. We might have to see about a time-out.
