I just dont get it...
Last night, coming home, I wish I had my camera ready. Sitting at a stoplight, right next to me, was this 4 door Corrolla, brand spanking new with dealer tags (11-24-00 exp.) and all. The wheels? 17" - can't remember what it was - I've been out of the wheel business for a fwe years, so the cuts of the wheels were unidentifyable. They were 17x7's though, with some Toyo-ish meat on them. The gas tank cap, it was...well, it *looked* as if it was this little carbon fiber lid - but since it stuck out from the rest of the car, I'm sure it was a stick on - what else would you expect? All limo tint all the way around. And to top off this legend of a car, it had the legendary Japanese writing on the left-rear. Just too classy for me.
On Thursday, I was driving by one of those Accords with 13" wheels that were WAY wide and stuck out about a foot beyond the fenders of the car. What's up with that? As far as I can tell, this type of setup has the following results.
1. Messes up suspension big time.
2. Makes the speedometer completely inaccurate.
3. Seriously affects handling for the worse.
4. Looks totally dorky.
5. Costs extra.
6. Drops the resale value.
7. Makes the car extremely "bouncy", at least it looked that way.
8. Must be terrible around curbs when parking.
One advantage.
1. No one is gonna steal your wheels.
