Just wondering, but do you realize that the minute you stop subscribing to a service like Napster's, you loose all ability to play the songs you've dl'd? I personally prefer to buy my music rights outright then to subscribe to them and be forced to pay money for the rest of my life just to listen to them.
If you are interested in subscription services though, there was a good article about them in the Washington Post recently. You have to subscribe, but its free to do so:

You drag the mp3 into the iTunes window, and iTunes automatically copies it and files it by artist/album/track number for you in the music library. What's so hard about that?
And Limewire isn't a knock off of Napster/Kazaa, even though it is decended from the idea of Napster.

The only problem with importing MP3's into iTunes is that file management is a pain. Its not nearly as easy as buying from iTunes.

I've had some good success with allofmp3.com
You can choose the quality, the format, damn near everything. They charge by the size of the file, rather than by the song. 2 cents per meg aint bad at all.

By the way, P2P programs (like LimeWire) are not illegal; downloading/uploading copyrighted content is illegal. If you were to use your P2P program to download Creative Commons licensed music, that would be legal.

Is, from what I understand, an illegal service. If you're going to do illegal downloads then do so from a newsserver and save yourself the hassle
