Oh ok... I see. Thanks guys.
I wonder if the next generation Touch will have such a capability since it is extremely limited as is right now.

The iPod Touch doesn't have any cell data capability - the hardware simply doesn't exist in it.
Regarding searching for a wifi hotspot - do searches for "wifi locator", "wi-fi finder", etc in Google.

Too much money and for the crappy service you get from ATT, not worth it.
I've been on AT&T since 1995 and no major issues. It's a hell of a lot better when compared to Sprint which I used for work. But yes, if the Touch had does capabilities it would basically be the same as an Iphone.

I'd much rather spend my money on a Blackberry or something. But since the Touch was a gift, I'm not complaining one bit. I'll just have to deal with going to hotspots... lol.

AT&T is getting slammed because so many people are switching to its service for the iPhone. So yes, service is suffering as AT&T rolls out more capacity. This is why the iPhone has certain "features" that limit bandwidth and why there's no tethering right ow for computers.
That said, service is really the same for all carriers. Some are better than others in different areas, but AT&T at least doesn't nickel and dime you like Verizon. Its customer service beats Sprint, which arguably has the best data network.
Anyway, if you like the iPod Touch, consider getting an iPhone - its 10x better than the Touch with 3G.

Plus... for people that already have a phone (like me) and would like a device for emails and all internet essentials without being locked into the I-Phone craze, the Touch would be perfect with internet service.

Just curious, have you ever had AT&T or is this just something you've read? Ive had AT&T for going on 9 years and lived in Utah, Texas, and New York with almost no problems. Im not sure where this horrible ATT service rumor came from. Maybe im just the exception...
