I quit smoking TODAY.
Good on ya man.
I quit on June 30th (with pharmaceutical assistance). This is round 3 for me (sigh) and although the side effects sucked large, I'm off the meds and feeling better. Unfortunately I missed drinking on patios for most of the summer, since that's where all the smokers are, but about a month ago I passed my biggest test so far: getting trashed on a patio with several smokers, including a few who were with us.
Everyone needs to follow their own path to quitting and I hope we're ALL successful!
It hasnt been that hard.. although for most of the time I have been drinking/trashed/hungover.. I missed going outside with a few buddies to smoke but thats it really.
I have been around smoke since I quit and it doesn't seem to phase me.
I am committed to quitting and there just is absolutely no question in my mind about picking up a cigarette anymore. I just don't do it.
Thanks and good luck to everyone else!

Good job man. I made a promise to myself that I would quit when I bought my new house and had everything settled. Well that was Saturday and this is my second day without a cigarette. I surprisingly feel better already.
I was also at that point where it made me feel sick after a smoke, but I still had the cravings. My first really big test will come when I'm drinking some brews. Beer and cigs goes together like peanut butter and jelly for me.

I expected beer to intensify my cravings but it was not that bad.
I am getting a cold that was going around the office, so now I am hacking and coughing and feeling like garbage.
Maybe I have the swine?
How many of you former-long time smokers have noticed a substantial enhancement of your taste buds? I've heard about it from friends, but never quit long enough to notice a difference. The killing of the taste buds was so gradual that I didn't notice if food was tasting more bland, and I can't recall if food tasted better before anymore.
