Get your hands on a "vanilla" Android OS. No touchwiz, no timescape, no nonsense. Nexus 1 is a good phone, I use one and love it. I like the iPhone as well, but I just can't justify spending more money monthly on at&t than t-mo. In the Tampa area, t-mo is great. At&t is good but isn't well covered in some areas. A friend who works in south Tampa has reception issues there but not home in Riverview (15-20 min drive). I hate how most of the people I've met say it has no flaws and is the best phone ever. It's really good, but not perfect.

And to be on topic, Palm sucks by comparison to either Android or the iPhone.

As a subsidiary of HP now, yes.

It could be good or bad. Huge money for development/marketing is available to them.
Most of the core team that built WebOS has jumped ship already though.
HP could also suck the soul out of Palm.

I got the Pre on a whim but cant imagine using another OS.
I would LOVE to see more modern hardware for it though (say, WebOS on the HTC EVO hardware?)

i had a palm treo 650, then a palm treo something else, then a palm centro, then a palm pre, now a HTC EVO (this is dating back to 2000-2001?)

they were all very quirky, and they all suck compared to the EVO

they were so buggy and worked ok if you didn't add anything (apps) to them, but once you started using them, goodbye, at the end of their lifetimes (barely over a year for the centro and pre), they were rebooting or not working more than they were working as they should

hopefully the EVO fares better

I don't know about you guys, but I definitely prefer my palm to other devices.

Ever since my GF left, I've been using my palm once, sometimes twice a night, and it always comes through for me. Sometimes the speed can vary, but I don't mind that so much.

We've been working together for so many years, I don't think I could ever give up on it.

that's exactly what i was thinking until i took the risk and moved onto AT&T. i had iphone 2g, 3g, and 3gs all unlocked and used it on T-Mo but i said F it and moved onto AT&T when iphone 4 came out and i must say i don't regret a bit at all. i also got 24% discount on AT&T plan (if you work for a major company go ask AT&T about national contract discounts) so it's actually cheaper than what i paid with T-Mo.

one thing i noticed about AT&T is their 3G service is actually faster and better than T-Mo 3G (i had nexus one on T-Mo). I live in Seattle and AT&T coverage is great but if Verizon get iPhone i am switching over in a heartbeat.

i had a palm pre and it was a great phone for about a year but then it started to freeze up on me and i was forced to restart it all the time. i dont even dl that many apps.

also it would get stuck in headphone mode when i was on a call and id be forced to used speaker phone because it would go back and forth to headphones if i tried to use the regular ear piece.

i really like the usability and the multi app screen.

i switched to the htc evo and i really like it. there were a couple of palm features i wish it had but overall its a better phone.
