more than likely, your AIM software didnt get hacked, your SN/ID , did. It happens all of the time.

 

I've used Trillian since beta (years and years now). It's fantastic but has some definite shortcomings.

Plus:
+ **secure 128-bit chats -- you can finally send passwords and logins over IM (I use this for work all the time) **
+ 5 chat mediums at once - less RAM used w/ 100 contacts than AIM with 0 contacts
+ unlimited screen names online at once
+ rename contacts on all chat networks (w/ 100 contacts first_last name is a huge plus!)
+ plug-ins are great - I like the weather and email checking ones (Hotmail and Yahoo inbox counts are instant -- you never have to login again and see 0 new messages)
+ many more, definitely get the Pro version

Minuses:
- there are still bugs
- file transfers seldom work
- you can't reinvite people to group chats (you can, but it doesn't work)

 

One more plus - you can keep text logs of all chats you've ever had. I use IM for work all day and this feature is something I couldn't live without after getting used to it.

Do the other clients do logging now?

 

I love that feature. I caught soo many people saying that they never said something only for me to look up my log and show them that they said that It's great

 

It's a must at the office. When I was the only one on Trillian I was the only one who could remember all the passwords, all the time. Crtl+F through your log files is like the hand of God...
