Bleh the Canadian gun argument. Whatever.

I'm a fan of the Glock 23 (compact .40 caliber). Not a fan of the glock "safety" though.

Fair enough, we've had a good banter... I'm glad it didn't turn into a childish discussion (flame-war), but rather, stayed a good clean debate.
I want to make it clear, that I was not bashing America because of your gun laws. I think I understand where you are coming from now. If you advocate the use of guns, and feel it necessary to own one, then all the power to you. I'm not here to say that it is wrong, because that is not my place to say.
If you were bashing Hockey, Beer, and Beavers... I would be forced to stand up for myself, and voice my opinions too

btw - if you want a cool gun, go old-school... get a Luger!

The media is very liberal biased. If you look at the statistics, firearms crime from legal gun owners is very low. Why bring a knife (hockey stick) to a gunfight?

The whole Assault Weapon Ban sunset thing was bullshit too. It banned cosmetic features on guns and limited magazine capacity. It has nothing to do with military weapons. Automatic weapons are still very difficult and expensive to obtain, except if you're a law enforcement officer.

Steve, what made you decide on the Glock? I find it funny how they market their safety.

I would never bash beer, hockey or beavers. Anybody that doesn't like those needs some serious help!

Size, weight, caliber,, reliability. I have fired many guns and the glock "feels" good. This is not the case for everyone, some folks can't stand them. Most people will probably agree that their safety is a joke and you have to retrain yourself in order to be safe with the gun.

I'm a big Kimber 45 fan, but damn those things are heavy and big.

I find their grip angle and trigger to be really awkward. I tried out the 19 which is probably the same size as yours in 9mm in some IDPA.

You do have to retrain yourself to be safe but I don't mind the lack of a safety lock. I'm actually considering converting my USP-C .40 single/double action into the LEM version which would make it's operation similar to any Glock. My first day trying IDPA, I drew the pistol and wondered why it didn't fire when I realized I forgot to take the safety off. It's just simpler, one less step to forget when under stress.

Depends on what size you're looking for. For very small, either a Kel-Tec or snub nose revolver. For medium small, I'd be looking at the HK P2000 SK. It's a brand new firearm that was released less than 2 months ago. It all really depends on where you'll be putting it.
i own a kel-tec 9mm and have been thoroughly pleased with it. it is my first and only gun and i have shot roughly 10 boxes through it and it hansn't once jammed in the middle of a clip. kel-tec will definitely get my business again if i want another low-budget pistol.
