I have braces and am a 36 year old douche. It will be 2 years this summer. I went with clear brackets. I didn't think my teeth were that bad until I saw the orthodontist. I got 3 opinions and they were all the same. When I get them off I"ll have a nice straight smile.

Go with braces unless you just need slight adjustments. I have heard some bad things about Invisalign from people who have used them over the long-term.

my aunt is a dentist and she says invisalign doesnt work, you need to get braces after anyway. even though i think my aunt is a shady person i'd take her word for it because i've talked to a few friends about it, one of them even stated that she and her brother both got invisalign, they were advised that they MAY possibly have to get braces after... thousands of dollars later they both HAD TO get braces. so just do it right the first time, braces arent the prettiest things but if they work they work.

Self-awareness is very important.

I should also mention, I have a friend in his 40's with 2 kids and the guy works in finance and interacts with clients all the time. He opted for braces (not even the clear brackets) and got them off in a little less than 2 years. Today, it doesn't hurt my eyes when he smiles.

Regardless of what you choose, you'll be better off for it. Skip the cosmetic dentistry route though, as it's needlessly complex/invasive for no good reason. You're not a celebrity and don't need the overnight fix.

And for the record, my vote is still for braces. They're not the most flattering thing in the world, but no one faults you for wanting to clean up your teeth/smile.

Is it only your smile that bothers you?

Google six month braces. Your front teeth can be moved in about 6 months. If you have issues with your back teeth braces take much longer.

braces will make you hate your life, and im not talking about how they look. im talking about how they affect the inside of your mouth, and your eating habits.

My sister-in-law is an orthodontist and said that invisalign is good for minor corrections; anything beyond usually requires braces. Adults with braces look really funny.

Oh, she also spoke of some type of lingual braces that can be placed behind the teeth, but I'm not sure how effective those can be. It's worth a look into.
