Default Keeping internet activity private...

I've been looking for a roommate for a while and I found a great deal. The guy lives with his gf and they have a room available. He's got wireless internet running through out the whole house which I'll be using. I know you can basically monitor all internet traffic if you are in charge of the router...Now the guy seems cool and everything, but I don't really know him...and I use email, myspace, online banking, etc etc...just wanted to know if there's anyway to block him from seeing what I'm doing/sites visited etc...This may seem like a weird question, but I don't like the thought of some guy seeing personal stuff, or even just monitoring what sites I go to...anyway, any suggestions?

Other than hooking up your own router, he's in charge when he's the owner of the router.

True story: I found out one of my roommates was gay when I was accessing my router to forward some ports. I never confronted him about it and he's still "in the closet".

Wow that would be awkward to say the least.

So are you saying get a router with wireless capability...and then run an Ethernet from it to the back of my desktop? Or how would that work? Thanks

He can see what websites your going too but I highly doubt he could see important items like passwords, bank statements, etc, all those kinds of sites are encrypted.

Not quite, chicks FTW. I'd actually be sketched out to the max if I was in the situation he was.

Yea I kind of figured that...but it's still $hitty to think someone can see every page/page detail I visit. I'm probably just being paranoid, but you never know...some people are nosy as hell.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I never felt nosy enough to try and spy on my roommates' connections.

Surprisingly I actually do have a lil respect privacy. Curiosity usually gets the better of me in other situatiosn.
