Kids DON'T Try this at Home!!!!!
That bike sounds like it's got a more sophisticated suspension than some cars! That downhill stuff is WAY too extreme for me. My new street bike is a Bianchi Milano. It just looked so cool - I had to have it.

If that's the bike he uses in downhill racing, I can guarantee you he has at least 5 inches of suspension travel, front and rear; I wouldn't be surprised if he had 8 or 9 inches all-around. With that said, you can rest assured that vtecmom's son most likely did not feel the landing.
I'm a biker myself (more XX than DH - I'm too much of a pussy!)... So let me clarify something: Downhill MTB racing is the most extreme form of biking! Absolutely, no questions asked! watch this video for proof.
I guess my mom can be cool at times... Although she does have a TT minivan!

3 inch wide INTENSE DOWN HILL RACING TIRES
What front fork is he using? I never knew there was a 5-incher that could accommodate 3-inch tires.
I ride a Jekyll 1000 - gotta love the Lefty!

Hey your car looks really nice that must be a custom paint job right? How do you haul the Jekyll around??? Do you have any photos of your car posted in any threads????
Downhill MTB racing...Isn't that where the guy that rides across the finish line wins?
My bike only has one gear, no suspension, and 20" wheels, but all I do are big drops and stairs, and stupid stuff like dodging cars downtown. City stuff. Been a while since I saw air like that off a real jump. After landing on concrete a few times, I started to turn into a perfectionist rather than a sloppy jumper

The car in my avatar is not mine
- it's the Spoon #94 Group N racecar. Mine is an almost-stock Silverstone/Red.
Usually, when I go biking, I go with a bunch of friends and we'll take my mom's van. We use a Thule hitch-mounted 4x bike rack with locking skewers. Sometimes we'll take my brother's car, in which case we use a Yakima gutter-mounted bike rack. It's only good for 2 bikes though.
But I think you were asking how I mount the bikes on my S2000? Well, sometimes I'll take the S, but my friends will take my bike for me; or I'll ride my bike there.

TOO Funny!
actually thats pretty acurate as I watch them come down the hill over in Chelan where he races, but gotta admit it can get pretty exciting when someone misses the jump or dosent clear one
I am allways trying to shoot photos of him as he comes down but boy did I drop the camera from my eye when he hit the 2nd dirt mound too soon once! I tried not to embarace him to much but then he jumped up and everyone was clappin for him so it was Cool!!! He wasnt hurt at all. I think the funniest thing is watching the Cattle truck hauling them all up the mountain w/bikes intoe, They actually pack these one trucks full and close the door so its pitch black inside
Well happy trails...........

If you son likes extremes, I do recommend enrolling him in a racing school. I had the honor a year or so ago to drivea Legends car here in Calgary, as the owner/driver is a family friend/former neighbor. I got to take her for a 4 lap test drive around the 1/4 mile oval, and my GOD I was shaking from the pure power that was running up my arms. These cars weigh about 600 kilos, are powered by a Yamaha 1200 CC 4 cylinder bike engine. Extreme, even if it was just turning left all the time
I think that you get "Cool mom of the year" award for 2002... do I have a second on that motion?
