I met my wife of 28 years while she was married, we were living together when her divorce came through. Her first marriage ended on the anniversary of their wedding.

There are a lot of people I know on S2ki with similar stories but they don't usually tell anyone. I've heard a few of them though, as they've shared them with me as I've had a very confusing last 7 months.

Western influence is causing problems.

 

Could you expand on this? Are you guys saying it's okay for guys to cheat on their wives in your culture? I'm interested and would like to know more of what you're not saying.

 

Maybe in relation to marital relationship and the empowerment of women, but western influence has helped numerous countries flourish, economically. In terms of producing women that can offer things to men, America is not good at doing this. As I said before, the marriage rate in the U.S. is at an all-time low because it simply not worth it get married these days. My wife is European and was raised well, thus she has alot to offer (good mom, good cook, nuturer, etc). I see many of my friends married to women who do not cook, clean, or so any of the things that wives and women should be doing (parenting, etc). When you break it down, a large quantity of Americanized women are only good for sex.

No, cheating is not allowed. It's just that family roles were set and followed. This has diminished quite a bit. Still some of us get lucky. My wife is a great mother, wife, chef (she's an excellent cook and the only one of our friends who cooks a home cooked meal 95% if the time for dinner), a professional with a doctorate degree. I am lucky. That being said, not all is perfect all the time. We have disagreements on the same things that anyone would have, money is the main one. I'm conservative and she's liberal. It causes a lot of moments. the problem is that it's engraned is us because of our upbringing.

It's good though. One has to keep the other in check. Nimesh is right. My wife does most of the house and child care things without complaint. When she needs help I help without question. She is really good at it and I think it was learned as a cultural thing. The funny thing is that I gave her the option of not working but she wants to work and still do everything she did before in the home. It's quite astounding actually.
