but I do believe that what makes a Christian is his/her belief and trust in Christ and what He has done on the cross and declaring Him as personal (operative word "personal") Lord and Savior - that's it. This is a given and the crux of the Christian faith. Every word of the Bible should be taken as inerrant from God (yes, written by scholars but inspired by God) by a Christian otherwise the Scriptures are reduced to just a good moral book. You are definitely correct in saying that faith in Christ doesn't guarantee a life free from strife and grief. All of those blasphemous "televangelists" like Benny Hinn and Peter Popoff claim that faith in Christ is guaranteed to bring you financial prosperity and life bereft of any kind of illness - nothing is further from the truth. Consider the analogy of father and his love for his children ... say a teenager's father was rich and could get the kid anything he wants, the kid brings his demands to his father but a loving, caring father would not spoil his child. But in the context of the teen's maturity, he does not know what is best for him and questions why his father won't buy him lavish gifts when the father obviously has the means. Likewise, if something doesn't go the way a Christian wants, he may not understand and may question why God would let this and that happen. This is why a life of a Christian won't be free from hurdles and bumps as God the father does what is best for His children although we may not understand why.

A philosopher (Damnit, forgot his name, go figure) once said that it is better to have faith then not have any faith at all because you won't lose anything if you have faith and nothing happens, but you will lose a lot if you don't have faith and there is a God/After life..

I have, I suppose, very good grammatical (and spelling) pitch, as it were: improper spelling, word use, punctuation, syntax, and so on jump out at me.
