Can someone test ftp.ifd.com (216.43.197.221) now? They say they have fixed it and they traceroute and ping fine, but I still can't from my Cable connecction.

I can't hit it. I tried using an ftp program and also tried pinging the ip address as well as ftp.ifd.com. They all come back with timeouts.

Well, not sure why, but the DHCP connection seems to make a difference. At 2:05pm I turned it off.

lane: you really need to upgrade wu-ftpd as the version you're running is vulnerable in a couple different ways. Visit http://www.redhat.com/apps/support/errata/

for more info. Glad you got the issue resolved

Ok, I think I remember what's going on here. Type netstat -nr. You probably have 2 routes to 0.0.0.0. You need to remove one of them. I think you've got two default routes.

Ok ....

216.43.152.64 (zzz-216043152065.splitrock.net) is still dropping the route or the server is down.

I can still connect. Yes, the order the interfaces are brought up can become an issue if DHCP is used because DHCP often provides a default route. This is of course configure-able in ISC's version of dhcpd.
