Looking to buy new big screen TV

If PQ really is your #1 priority, none of the technologies listed will provide the best. For that you have to go to CRT (Direct or Projection).
well this is pretty much a retarded argument since no consumer tv utilizes any technology to its fullest
In terms of current offerings, plasma's will give you the best picture. I dare you to compare a sony XBR CRT, or *gasp* any CRT RPTV, to a pioneer elite or fujitsu aviamo plasma.. of course you could buy your entire neighborhood a sony CRT before you would reach the equivalent cost.
Now, if you want to venture into the world of ultra high end gear, you can get yourself a projector with 4x the resolution of any content you can throw at it.. better fork out for some imax movies

Don't forget if you buy the 42" plasma posted you aren't paying sales tax so that offsets the shipping cost.
e.g. Some guy wants a roadster. He has enough money for a Miata, but everyone keeps telling him that he should buy an S2000 instead because it is faster and looks better. He replies by stating that he only cares about the roadster part (read: bigger TV) and not the performance or looks (read: PQ and resolution). Is this man still making a horrible decision by buying an "inferior" roadster?
disclaimer: I am not suggesting that the Miata is inferior to the S2000, I just needed an example that some car guys would understand.

DLP and Plasma are different TECHNOLOGIES....a miata and S2000 aren't diff. technologies.....they're just different cars.

THEY'RE JUST DIFFERENT TVs
My analogy was to illustrate that I can give a rat's a$$ what the technology is, or which is superior. All I care about is that the TV is bigger than what I currently have.

oh.
isn't it obvious?
isn't it obvious?
You say "Plasma is better, don't buy DLP" I'm not arguing against the "better" part mind you.
I use as an example "S2000 is better, don't buy Miata" (again, I love Miatas) and I get the technology defense.
...so how about this one...
"F1 paddle shifters are better, don't buy the six speed" Some buy six speed solely based on the the extra money for this DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY. It's still going to be a Ferrari or Maserati whichever they choose. By Ferrari or Maserati, I mean BIG TV
If it's all the same TO ME, then can I pretty please get a DLP?

and if you're set on getting a DLP, then why ask in the first place????????????

I say save some cash and buy a DLP. You will be very happy.
