...so how about this one...

"F1 paddle shifters are better, don't buy the six speed" Some buy six speed solely based on the the extra money for this DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY. It's still going to be a Ferrari or Maserati whichever they choose. By Ferrari or Maserati, I mean BIG TV
incu, again, you're comparing apples and oranges.

you've already decided on the ferrari...the tranny is just an OPTION!

do you want the HDMI board for your plasma, or S-video board?

see the difference?

It is obvious that they use different technologies, BUT, They're still just different TVs. Big TVs that are being compared with one another regardless of whether you think they should be or not. I choose to use a blade to shave, you may choose an electric razor. Does this mean that we can't compare them? They do the same thing; they make the hair on my face go away until the next day.
so let's compare....one gives a closer shave, one doesn't require shaving cream, one's cheaper, etc.

now, which is the most important difference?

i would say the closer shave part...after all, if you can't get a close shave, it defeats the purpose of shaving!!!!

so the core thing with TV's is PQ (for the majority of people)....and everyone has told you plasma > DLP.

no....trust us.

and if you're set on getting a DLP, then why ask in the first place????????????
I didn't ask, I recommended that someone else get a DLP.

PLR, again, I've already decided on a Big TV, the DLP or Plasma are just OPTIONS !

Do you want sauce on your taco, or cheese?

^This is in there to mimic your post because I have no idea why you asked about S-Video or HDMI.

Why are you comparing apples to oranges? They're two different technologies!!! Can't you see this.

I've already decided to shave, the methods are just OPTIONS!

OMG, so...... some people are saying "Plasma's suck for video games" then others are saying they've had no difficulties. I think I'm gonna just go with 50" DLP Samsung with 1080p because, I agree with vtec9, the higher resolution will give me sufficient PQ compared to Plasma 720's, while not having the questionable drama associated with my video game usage!! Maybe Plasma will be my choice 5 years down the road. Thanks for everyones advice and suggestions.

Sigh....

PLasma vs LCD is like Ferrari vs S2000....

Both are cars (both are TVs)....both in essence, do the same thing. Both are fun. Both are pretty. Both are pretty fast. However, the Ferrari is just better.

A DLP is like a 9 second 5.0 mustang. Gets the job done, but thats about it.

If you are confused then just go down to best buy and look at the different options for yourself. Look at the sets, take notes and ask the sales people to bend over backwards to show you what they will do.

I agree, go see them side by side. The comparison will convince you. As far as videogames, it is not recommended to play them on plasmas due to the burn in possibility...I wouldnt do it for more than 2 hours at a time AT MOST. Sports games and FPSs.....since they have scores, and weapon ammo numbers that dont go away, you are in danger of burning those in. Ive seen a number of plamas with a miller light logo burnt in because the people didnt break them in, and watched the TV on full brightness for 6 hours at a time.

Wrong again. Sorry.

First of all, Sony doesn't even make a 32" XBR CRT. It is a 34". Second of all, Sony doesn't even say that this TV has the highest resolution, stating a maximum resolution of 1080i, HALF the resolution of a 40XBR2 at 1 million pixels (1080i) vs 2 million (1080p) on the XBR2. I'll admit the 34XBR970 has a great picture, but once you get into projection, sorry, the technology is old and dying.

Me thinks that you should become educated before you keep spreading misinformation to members on this forum
Resolution was a bad choice of words... I meant to address PQ. In that arena CRT is still the champ..no ifs ands or buts.

Me thinks you need to drop the crack pipe.

I'll try to get to Best Buy on my day off. I never intended to fight with anyone here; it's pretty frustrating.

PLasma vs LCD is like Ferrari vs S2000....

Why don't you have a Ferrari then? Why are you pressuring the poor into buying what can't be afforded. WHY ARE YOU ON THE DLP FORUM???

Of course I'd have a Plasma if money was no object. It is, and DLP is the best option at the moment.

EDIT: I am not trying to attack you NFR, I'm just irritated at the direction this thread has gone, and I'm apparently not allowed to buy anything but a Plasma screen.

...and to PLYRS 3, I know I'm comparing apples to oranges, that's okay sometimes. One can be preferred over the other, even if cost is the reason.
