this car definately has the recaro seats, with the mesh headrest similar to our s2k seats

this particular car has a 350 engine, unfortunately the engine is not the factory engine so not sure if the own put in a 350 or this would have been stock.

31,930 would be total US production (with some export units) out of the assembly plant in Ohio. The fifth character in the vin indicates the series. So the vin should start out as 1G2A (which means '1' US assembly, 'G2' Pontiac division, 'A' manual seatbelts (restraint system). If the fifth char is 'S' it's a regular Firebird, if 'X' it's a Firebird SE and if 'W', it's a Trans Am. The seats sound like they would be the one's known as "articulated" made by Lear Siegler which were optional in S/E and T/A models. Largest engine offered in '83 was a 5.0L (305 cu in), so the 350 was installed later.

the vin# is 1G2A V OR W 87H2DL213666

Keep in mind this is a CDN car, I don't know about car fax so is it still possible to run it?

Honda Gal, here is the VIN breakdown:

1. US Assembly
G. General Motors product
2. Pontiac division car
A. Manual restraint system
W. Firebird Trans Am (no such model as "V" so it must be "W")
87. Two door coupe body style
H. V8 - 305 cu in four barrel (carburated engine)
2. Check digit
D. 1983 model year
L. Van Nuys CA assembly plant (sorry, I thought they all came from Ohio)
213666. Sequential serial number

thanks stookins... that does help. You guys are all the best for sourcing out information

The car does have the recaro seats.. is there any other way to determine from the vin if this is truly a factory option on this car, or someone just decided to put these in and redo the interior.

After all, the car has a different engine already, so who knows if the interior was updated.,
