Of course his calibration set him back, what, $200? Still, worth it, I agree. Hitachi is one of the few (only?) major manufacturers still making CRT rear projectors.

I'm sure that the F series can generate a very nice picture once calibrated. (I really do wish that there was an ISF tech in my area, though.) Hitachi also used to sell a somewhat more expensive and feature laden S series and also an X - Director's series that had higher power oversize (7.5"? - don't recall) CRTs with bigger guns and some high falutin' phosphor coating that is far more resistant to burn in. I run in 4:3 for extended periods and no burn but then again, I am in a lower level room with no windows and with the white and black levels pulled wayyyyy back.

I do like my Hitachi, it's just that CRT rear projectors of any quality are hard to find now. I really doubt that Hitachi will continue to make them.

Good luck finding a Mits with 9" CRTs (wasn't that only on the Diamond series 70"?) as Mits no longer makes RP CRT TV's.

Yes I will need luck. I believe they also made a 65"? with the 9" guns, but they are few and far between.. I was talking to an experienced ISF tech and he has never seen one!

I believe calibration was a litte over $200. He only had it done because the TV lost all green and I forced him to do it.. was very annoying, especially when watching football. The field was redish brown After, the picture was much better than off the showroom floor of course. I tried to fix it originally, but the hitachi calibration was like rocket science.
