How dare Madonna plea for peace - in a time like this when people are confused, angry and some are out for blind revenge (how many innocent Muslims in America have been harrassed since this happened?) - why that bitch!

I'm with Clarks post 110%

It's pretty unconstructive to be bashing a fellow American in a time like this. There are tons of things that I dislike about Bush and other right wingers, but it's just not important right now.

We are in worse shoes: we have 6,000 dead to mourn.

Just because highly visible pieces of meat are standing up and saying things, doesn't mean they are any more qualified than the rest of us to know what to do.

Madonna's bullshit PR campaign to constantly re-invent herself in whatever form continues to make her appealing to a certain generation, particular those forms which cheaply co-opt other genres, cultures, religions and mysticisms is the lowest form of insincerity.

Highly public media figures such as these are not visible and prominent because of any particular intellectual, philosophical or theological merit. The weakmindedness of the mob gives these figures undue power, and often they exploit it only to serve their market share.

Whether or not she is right, or actually speaks from any basis other than an interest furthering her marketable image, Madonna's opinion is as valid and important as that of the guy who delivers my water, as that kid with the bachelor's degree who squeegied my window the other day...as valid and important as my own.

She is entitled to her opinion like anyone else -- however, she is not entitled to use her fame to have her opinion count any more than anyone else. Whether or not this is her intent is not important -- what is important and pathetic is the tabloid-level mob mentality that her opinion is worth more.

Right. But it doesn't justify killing more innocents. We can go to war, I just hope we can minimize the killings. That is all I am asking.

Good one, Muz.

Mind you, if I had to weigh Madonna's opinion vs. Manson's -- lets see, irreverant no-limits shock-goth vs. cheesy fame-whore...

At least Manson would probably profess to speak for the disenfranchised and not necessarily for me.

"I never really hated...the One True God...but the god of the people I hated..." - Marilyn Manson, from 'Disposable Teens'

Fvcking brilliant lyric, IMHO.
