My question to the community is this:

What is one thing you would do to your car that people usually say "I would do that, but this is my daily driver and I could not afford to go that long without a car?
Back to the topic:

Since you most likely don't have deep pockets for mods anymore due to the fines,.. Get a detailing book and detail your car back to new condition. There are hours of work to do cleaning up the hidden areas. There is lots to learn from a good car detailing book.

If you really have time you could always set the car up for concourse competition. Lining up the phillips screw heads and redoing the inspection paint dabs will provide you with lots of experience on the S2000.

You might also get ahead on the inspection maintenance items your manual calls for.

Love DUI laws. Punished for what might have happened.

"You might have killed someone".

"What? Like the dude checking the top speed of his S2000 on the highway?"

"Yeah, like that".

Hmm, looking back, your car is very new. Looks like you will be better off spending your time clep testing and getting some college degrees under your belt. Looks like you used up all your fun this summer.

JackS : I was originally stopped under suspicion. There was a bit of a traffic jam and they said I accelerated too hard out of a stop (No break in traction)

03 AP1: 6 drinks and dinner in 3 hours. Looking back on it the math works out correctly that I had too much.

Everyone else: It's not like i was blitzed and was fighting everyone for my keys and ran out to my car to escape anyone from stopping me. I made the decision on my own because I literally felt fine. The field sobriety tests were a joke and I was thinking there was no was i was over the limit.

You're all correct. I am old enough and have been told plenty of times that this was incorrect behavior, I know...I'm just trying expose the ease of this happening to anyone else ...and for god sake could we get back on to my original question....I'm referring to things like powdercoating or plating engine parts....nothing involving FI or a new engine...i have 5000 miles on the current one and a warranty to keep in tact.

come on now, i know almost all of you DUI. I'm sure not as bad (like blowing over legal limits), but girls, mom's, dad's, friends, doesn't matter, you all do it. It's just that this guy got caught and drove when he shouldn't have or worst, should have been caught.

anyway, it could of been worst. you could of gone to jail for hitting someone while DUI, so lesson learned and move on.

You probably have to sell the car, make best of those classes. Who knows, maybe you'll meet someone at those classes and something good will happen.

Sorry to hear OP DUI guy. I have had many friends get DUI's and police being so convinced that I was over the limit that I have gotten several roadside breathalyzers.

sad part about it is there are those who can drink and drive and there aren't.

30 years ago it didn't matter and you could cruise around the state with a case a beer between the front seats and a fifth under your seat at all times for booze cruisin and not worry about a thing.

mr Dylan was sure right when he said "times are a changin"

I would look through the galleries and see what appeals to you, since it's cosmetic changes your interested in doing.

I would def. powdercoat my rims and paint my calipers! What about a hardtop? Veilside tonneau cover, smoked/clear headlight diffusers. Tinting your tail lights? Custom license plate?

Ok so being one of the few, guessing by the replies at least, who bothered to read the whole first post...

If money, see above post about building the engine etc..

If you don't have the money:

I would consider pulling the engine and doing some polishing work on many of the bare metal stock parts. Also consider lengthening some of the wire looms so that you can re-route them to be more hidden. Same goes for any tubing (oil, break, etc), and possibly moving the battery to the spare wheel area in the trunk.

Another project I would like to do if I had time would be to create a new cover for the spare wheel area so that it is flat (remove wheel bubble). And possibly re-cover some of the cloth/leather panels in the interior to give it a more unique look (even changing stitching coloring would be good here). The plastic/metal trim around the shifter can be removed and polished as well.

If you have some skill in welding, consider removing the rear sub-frame and reinforcing it. If you search around on the forum I know there are some good pics of the opera and tracy sports rear ends that have similar bracing techniques. Or simply follow as much of the Opera s2000 body reinforcement that you can.

Lastly my biggest "If it wasn't my daily driver", though this more pertains to a car that won't become my daily in the future either, is to remove all trim pieces etc (weight cutting) and to hole and bevel un-necessary metal (again for ease of home project, look towards the Opera build for ideas of where the most can be done the safest).

Best of luck.
