THe guy's an A$$hole, in my opinion. Obesity isn't just always about food... for a lot of people, it's genetic

This makes more sense than Southwest's policy of trying to blame the passenger. The airline is the entity responsible for your comfort, not the passenger next to you.

Sorry guys but I agree with him. I was stuck next to a guy who filled his and half of my seat on the way to vegas once. I spent a lot of time in the isle and walking back and forth to the bathroom when I could. It was horrible, now if he had been given two seat problem sovled but they put him in the middle, both myself and the window passenger were both giving each other knowing looks the whole flight.

I heard this guy on the radio the other day. He's not suing the airline for big bucks or anything, he seems pretty straight up. he wrote them letters and they pretty much blew him off..

I actually agree with him... not the normal scumball lawsuit

While I think that the law suit is extreme (about as valid as suing for coffee being hot) I agree that if I paid for my seat I want all of it. I have found that if you just insist on keeping your arm rest down there is no problem as it forces the person to fit in the seat or spread over to the next person. After 3.5 mm miles you find that your tolerance levels tend to drop.

i agree with the guy. if someone chooses to live a lifestyle that leads to obesity (and the instances where this is not elective are very rare) that is their choice. i should not have to be the victim of his/her decision by being crammed against them fo 2-5 hours during a flight. i too, have spent the better part of a flight walking the aisles to avoid having to be pressed up some stranger for an entire flight.

if the airlines refuse to do anything about this they should either refund MY fare or create wider seats that can't be compromised by obese folks.

Puhleeze! The % of people that are genetically fat muct be like 0.0000001%. Obesity is all about overeating. I don't see this genetic scourge sweeping all over Africa and Asia!? This genetic problem seems to predominately affect people with the MickeyD's gene.
