Using things in moderation seems to be a point for the use of pot. Because moderation is the key word, I don't see why one bad car would lead to banning all others. That analogy doesn't apply here, because all drugs are "bad" because they are potentially dangerous. Sure all cars are potentially dangerous too, but they are a necessity, and drugs are not.
Despite that, I think pot should be legalized simply because it would generate so much tax revenue, and I don't believe anyone stays away from pot from fear of being caught. More tax revenue = lower income tax rates
I may sound like I have contradicted myself, but I think that alcohol and pot should be illegal. However, since that is not possible, in practical application making one illegal and not the other is pointless.

It is a matter of choice to most people. Some people have found valuable uses for the drug. (and I don't mean selling it) There are people that it helps, but there are also people it leads to a different path.
But as far a legalization, the government will never allow it.

Josh, what you state about necessity vs. non-necessity is somewhat absurd, IMO. The way I see it, the world operating with horses, without phones, and no planes is medieval. The world wouldn't function the way it is today. Theoretically, sure it's true. However, in real world applications, it won't work.
I should state that theoretically, I believe the ideal is that both pot and alcohol are banned. This does not include the best ideal, in which everyone would act responsibly, and nothing would have to be banned.
However, with the way the world is today, I think marijuana should be legalized. I'm really not contradicting myself, I'm just laying out two arguments for two separate scenarios.
Greg, very funny!
