I'm surprised at all the talk about meat and McDonalds in the same sentence. Aren't their patties just ground up cardboard dipped in grease?
FTW, that made me laugh

Macdonalds revolutionized the beef industry, and I believe the standards are higher now for ground beef. Doesn't matter to me, I don't really eat at McD.

Anyways, I've started reading Omnivore's Dilemma for my Environmental Policy class and it is pretty interesting. Talks about where food comes from and considers points of both vegans and the rest of us meat eating folk. Very thought provoking and it is a good read.

It is possible for Vegans to stay healthy. That women that died had no idea about what she was doing. But the most rediculous thing I have heard so far about vegans are those that try to impose it on their cats/dogs. Poor creatures are forced to eat some weird vegetable mush and have to take protein supplements.

[QUOTE=CG,Sep 13 2006, 01:07 PM] We have neighbors who insist on visiting us at least once a week to tell us how much better off we would be if we were (a) Seventh-day Adventist and (b) Vegan

Interesting. There is a thread floating around about "Gun Owners" which may help you address this nuisance.

"Keep your politics and self-righteous life strategies off my doorstep, please."
It's a real catch 22. While they make us a bit nuts they're still nice people and we like letting their kids see that not everyone lives like they do. Also the husband is in the military and doing a 12 month stent in a fairly hot zone. I'm a supporter of the military so I'm willing to put up with a somewhat quirky neighbor to help out while he's gone.

As far as the gun owners thread goes... I don't post in those threads. Let's just say that I live on a horse farm in the country so there's a good chance I know my way around guns.

I respect your attitude and try to be more tolerant myself than my sacrastic posts might imply.

Really good point about trying to lead by example. Keep on keepin' on!!
