What are you kidding me? MS has more serious lawsuits to worry about, but this is in line with the growing fad of suing manufacturers for anything that happens to their products. It had merit when a device was built with known defects, but now its just a cash game.

Lawyers angle in for a 30-40% cut from any win in court, so why not just sue everybody? This is why we have ridiculous warning labels on everything from our sun visors to milk cartons.

I like the line from a GTA game commercial - "The great thing about this country is you can sue anyone for pretty much anything! And you'll probably win! Or at least get a settlement!"

Well maybe if Microsoft would actually make something that DOESN'T break down, they wouldn't be getting sued.

Maybe if Microsoft was a Japanese company, the computer would run forever without breaking down. Microsoft is like the Ford of computers - Fix Or Repair Daily, Found On The Road Dead, etc.

the fact that just a couple months ago they were doing Xbox360 demos on PowerMacs should tell you something.

The hardware was obviously rushed.

...and if the product release was postponed (to combat this problem), the consumers would be whining that they keep pushing the release back.

You can't have both...Gran Turismo 4 was the same way. No problems with my game, though I waited for a LONG time to get it.

Kinda ridiculous.

I think Microsoft should go up to a judge, and just tell them that they're willing to settle, but instead of paying the kid a million bucks (or something like that), that they should be allowed to pay it off to a charity.

Maybe all these law suits would disappear if the people who started them, would not receive any money from the 'accused', if courts gave them permission to just give the amount off to a charity instead.

wait a minute?? why should there be a monetary settlement?? it's not like the malfunctioning product resulted in any physical or financial harm to the consumers. as long as microsoft is willing to fix, replace, or refund the product, then that's all microsoft is repsonsible for.
