Microsoft blew it again
Yeah, who wants active x controls?
Nothing like limiting functionality. How about you only allow active X controls to run from web sites you trust? Common sense goes a long way. For the record IE comes out of the box locked down pretty good on a new purchase of a new OS.
Only if you allow it to do so. Which is the real problem. Maybe we should prevent people from downloading executables all together because they are soooooo stupid they don't verify that it's virus free and will not instal spyware. Basically it's your computer and before people start screwing around it might be a good idea to learn at least the minimum about security before you start using it.
As for you shouldn't be able to get spyware guess what I don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks about firefox it isn't going to keep spyware/malware from your computer unless you take certain precautions.

the point is with IE you can still simply go to a web page that is fully allowed by all your security and firewalls, and still get infected
