I havn't read much on the Boxter board but I know on this board 99% of the time you will only get people who show the utmost respect for other cars. The thing about the S2000 is, the people who buy them are, generally, auto enthusiasts. So naturally they like all high performance cars, whatever shape they take. I'd love to have more Boxter owners come and post on this board because it would add some needed spice to our community. So feel free to hang around and bring some friends to.

Hmmm, I just went back to look at the "thread" about the S2000 and it seems to have been deleted by the sherrifs, constables or whatever they call their moderators over there.

As if anyone cares, I'm a Jeffersonian laissez faire libertarian and I LOVE free speech. It's what makes the free world go 'round. OK, that's too much information, but what is exactly the point in deleting an entire thread of messages with which the moderator(s) has some kind of problem with? OK, not trying to be dramatic by talking politics here, but seriously....what is up with that?

Unless I missed it, it seems as if now Pete's Boxster board now has a mouse cursor trail that has what looks like an MR2 chasing my mouse around, but they delete threads about S2000's?!?

Of course, that could be this delicious weissenbier....yummy!

But seriously, why the deletion? I love free speech...it's a beautiful thing. Perhaps our P-brethren can learn that it is a good thing as well...

Add that to the fact that we can smoke those big assed P-cars around any track 24/7.

(please bring your sense of humor...)

Greg,
You must like that Weissenbier?!?! Have you been to Koln? My favorite of all beer is Fruh Kolsch! FYI Kolsch is the beer made in Cologne. A little off topic, oh well.

Grolsh is Dutch and tastes like grass. I think it's made from lawn clippings. Tuborg rules, not German, but that's a good thing.

BTW, this topic has taken a turn for the better WTF is with that software those German car owners use? Do they not have enough cash left over to pay the $199 for UBB or $160 for vBulletin? Come on people! I hope the technology and performance behind your web sites is not indicative of that of your cars.

Oh, I have a 6 digit USD salary and could easily afford a P car but would rather not

Talking about "proactive" admins, this thread started in "Car Talk" and was yanked to "Off Topic" faster than my Boxster S passes S2000's.

I really don't get your admins unilaterally declaring car comparisons as being off topic. What is MORE on topic? Now, this thread which rambles on about the owners instead of the cars...this thread IS off topic. But car comparisons...those are dead ON topic.

So, do I need to scan OFF TOPIC instead of CAR TALK to find interesting chat? It would seem so.

BTW, I think they ditched the bouncing Boxsters at PPBB and things have speeded back up (thank goodness). But I do prefer this format. Once you are entrenched using some bboard sofwtare, it is probably harder to swap than it is to use when you first start up. The admins do us all a favor by their efforts without us griping about their board's format, so I don't feel right asking them to change.

As for smoking boxster a$$, so to speak, only the future will tell. All I know is an Audi S4 took TTD at the recent AutoX for Beginners (versus boxsters, 911's, etc)...until the instructors got out there and then a 914 (surprise!) smoked everybody's time.

The folks in Maverick Region PCA (Dallas/Ft Worth) seem genuinely down to earth and don't seem to have any water vs air cooled bias, that I have seen. We mix freely, drool over each others cars, and show no mercy on the track.

And I have to say to FlyingPig that I don't know this other 90% of the Boxster population that doesn't know about their cars. The Boxster folk I know are fans enough to either a) be a member of PCA, b) go to PPBB a lot, or c) both.

So if I don't know the other 90%, how do you?

If you think anyone that makes a derogatory comment about other cars as not knowing their own car, then I think you have to take into account people usually see their BB as a private place (which it is not). People talk sh!+ all the time about other people's cars, just because they think they are within their own community and can speak off the cuff. Most people forget these are all open forums and that all sorts of folks are looking over their shoulders. They say things they would never say "in public".

Are there plenty of people who buy Porsches for the name plate? Sure. But so what? Wasn't the Honda name plate a part of the reason you bought your car? Honda means reliability. To many folks, Porsche means performance and prestige. Again, so what? Now the people that think owning something of value makes them personally better than others that do not own it...those people I take issue with.

But since I don't hang with that crowd, I don't know any. For me, they are 0% of the Boxster population. Do they exist? Who cares? Only by caring do you give them power over you.
