very very few people that start lifting as a teen have the drive to stay with it more then a few months to a year. never mind almost 7 years...
dont take this the wrong way but theres a big difference from training for 6 months compaired to years.. and decline compaired to flat.. and from 165 to 185 in body weight is a pretty decent difference...one of the people i lift with is around 155-160 and hes doing around 225-240. congrats on the contest though.
again not tryign to be a dick, but there was quite a bit of variables.
if you were able to put 255 up with only 6 months of training, you could have hit 300 with more time. thats really good. it took me alot longer then 6 months to be able to do 255
i actually think it took me over a year.
again i stated i didnt mean to bounce, iv never done that much weight before, i stall when repping 275-315. the most iv ever done, lift up, stall, and up without anyone even touching the bar was 335 or 345.
thats the huge reason i dont like squats... back, knees, sholders, etc. too much to damage with that kind of weight.
i hear you man. the food you eat or dont eat can make HUGE impacts on your body.

Took me about 4 years to get there, no way I could do it in 6 months.
Nothing wrong with the bounce IMO. I can push more weight if I bounce too, so why not? If I only go down 2-3" off my chest I can do exactly the same as if I bounce, which makes sense.

I want to get my bench weight up.
Im 5'2'', just under 100lbs and im benching 135 for 3 - 5 reps usually at the end of my work out. My normal bench is 115 for 10 - 12 reps per set.

I wasn't clear. I've been working out since I was on the highschool baseball team, I got serious freshman year in college. What I was referring to was that I was working with only dumbbells vs using the bar. I have only missed 3 or 4 work outs in the past several years even if I have to modify them to adapt to my surroundings [home for christmas, etc.].

yeah i do both dumbells and bar. the dumbells help with balance. and as u can see in the video. i need to work on my right arm. dumbells help put more on my right arm, so my left cant compinsate like it cant with the bar.
agree with you on the bounce, but it looks better without it

who ever told you that needs to be bitch slapped. thats a myth. the only reason that could be remotely true is a young person lifting way too much weight with bad form for and extended amount of time.. i could see possible damage to growth plates.
but weight lifting in general will not stunt growth. so please dont trash my thread with your bs nonsense.
but id say im 5'9" since it runs in my family... no one is over 6 ft. and my dad is about 5'7".
as far as the weight bounce, i normally dont... didnt try this much before, it came down a lil harder then i expected. thats the reason i had the pad in the middle of the bar too.

And as far as the left arm being weaker. It's because you do the detailed things like writing, unlocking doors. We use our undominant arm to hold carry groceries and other things that dont require as much dexterity. Thats why one arm ends up stronger then the dominant one. That or ALOT of lonely nights
got back from the gym a few hours ago.. dropped 5lbs of body weight. put up another 10lbs in bench. max this time was 375 weighing in at 175lbs.

Nice numbers. I powerlifted in college and my max was
Squat 550
Bench 315
DL 475
all at 165 lb body weight (still have the records to prove it, and yes I was drug tested).
You really should check into using the Westside barbell club method of working out. Max effort once a week (bench, decline, close grip, etc) with a speed day working on form using bands or chains. That would def help your goal out. I think you would be hitting 430 easy.
I've seen guys bench well over 500 and into the 600 range. The real sight is seeing guys squat 700-800 lbs with the bar whipping up and down just on the walk out.
