call your local CAL-OSHA office. They will take care of him with a nice little visit and possible fines/warnings. You can do this anonymously.

It's like every girl I meet these days smoke. Everybody seems to smoke. And they say nicotine is not addictive.
I agree...when I was single I was so grossed out when meeting new women...it smells like sh!t.

Even worse is their dirty smelly 4-wheeled ashtray they call a car.

The sprinkler set-off is best idea...but caution: in a big bldg you'd have FD show up though....thats a misdemeanor with major fine (in Chicago at least).

I guess the rules have changed a good bit. in 1992 i worked with 21 people and 19 of them smoked at their desks. I called the health dept who said they were allowed if it was the companies policy.

I lied to them and posted no smoking signs up, told them they had to only smoke in the break room, then I left a tape recorder recording when i went to lunch that day....ahah... they called me a dick and asshole, etc..... i won... they were too stupid to find out the real rules.

anyway..... Richard - like CG said.... do not burn the bridge.... i did that at a place and it is stupid..... just get your vacation pay or whatever you are entitled to and move on.... that way you could at least possibly use the guy as a reference.

Hopefully you have a job lined up before you quit??? Maybe your wife runs a mortgage broker company and you have some rentals houses which would allow you to quit your job for a while..... or maybe your wife works at american outfitters and can support her lazy husband (ahahahahhaha). (hopefully you know who i am talking about).

Is this the same boss whose health you were concerned about a few months ago?

You guys can't be serious about wanting to sue this guy. Unless he is a complete asshole he doesn't deserve to be fined over this. Just mention to him how you and the other workers hate it and have him smoke only in his office with the door closed. And so what if it's illegal? So is spitting on the sidewalk.
