My Net is really slow, why??
Cable is not location sensitive, but it is demand sensitive. If there are alot of people in your area with a cable connection you will notice a slight drop in performance, but not 56K performance. More then likely your pc is loaded up with adware / spyware, or what other people have posted, a worm virus.
You might want to look into picking up a copy of McAfee internet security. It comes with ad/spyware detection, anti-virus, spam killer and a personal firewall. Shouldn't cost you more then $50.00 and it works pretty good

Have you tried resetting your cable modem? I would try resetting it (both hardware and software if applicable) before anything else.
If that doesn't work, then you might have spyware on your system, or perhaps a lot of other people in your area have recently subscribed to cable.
