Yeah, I was thinking something like this.

Or say "hold on one second, I'll be right with you" and either not come back, or come back for a second and say "oh sorry, i'll be right back" and see how long they put up with that. haha. I do agree that death probably isn't the way to go. Some horrible injury should do the trick.

My dad used to get telemarketers calling his office. His buddy and I were with my dad at his office on a Saturday once, and he answered his phone on speaker. Dude said "Good morning Mr. Berlin, would you like to make more money?"

So my dad said "Good morning! You know, can I be honest with you? I have so much money I don't even know what to do with it. I'm in my 40s and I'm ready to retire already and live on vacation for the rest of my life. My kids are set, my wife is happy, I couldn't ask for anything more. But thanks, and good luck!'

Guy said "Oh, um sounds great. Bye bye."

Even though it's only marginally funny, we thought it was hilarious at the time because it was thinking on his toes, and apparently all it took was saying something to throw the telemarketer off his game.



Next time someone calls just say "Oh, you haven't heard? So sad...hold on, I'll let Mark tell you, that's his replacement." Then put them on hold and never go back.

 

"Ok, can you hold, please?"
