Default Organized People

I'm finding more and more that there's just so much crap to do here at work that I'm starting to lose track of some of the smaller things.

What do you guys do to help you stay atop all of the minutiae? Specifically, do you use any software/tech that helps you keep organized?

I'd like to hear your thoughts since I'm one of those guys that keeps it all in my head and can't seem to keep an accurate to-do list for more than a week.

I use my calendar in Outlook to remind me of what tasks/projects I need to work on throughout the week. It's pretty helpful for me.

A piece of paper and a pencil - I just write it down on a single list, and I can take the paper anywhere. Low tech, but it works. If right now you're keeping it all in your head, it seems like writing stuff down would be the next logical step.

Outlook tasks, reminders and flags on emails. Pen and paper works too but usually after a while, you start to get more than one list and then that gets confusing.

EXACTLY.

It seems with the tried and true paper/pencil, you're doing ALOT of writing to keep things up to date. Whereas when you use software it is more about cut/paste. I forgot to mention that I'm a lazy ass and HATE doing this stuff.

Keep the ideas coming. I've used a PDA before but after my Dell Axim conked out on me and left me stranded, I'm wary of using that again.

MS Outlook + Treo. Hard memory instead of the previous volatile PDA memory that would disappear when your Palm Pilot would sneeze.

like everyone else, i am a BIG fan of the outlook calender...

for voicemails... i always have a legal pad next to my phone, i write down the phone number and brief notes for each message. then i just check each one off when i've either completed the task they've asked me to do, or i've called them back.

Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff.
