Why shop at either of them?

50 dollars for a 3 dollar cable? F that.

With internet shops like buy.com,newegg, and amazon I'm suprised either businesses arn't out of business yet (although their sales are on the decline in our area).

Guess they have to pay those worthless employees commission
I'm pretty sure Best Buy employees don't get commission. At least in Canada they don't.

That being said, I'm pretty sure that's why they're all just happy little monkeys. They have no incentive to know their sh*t and actually help people. If I was getting paid near minimum wage with no possibility for commission, I wouldn't exactly go out of my way to learn product lines and info either.

I don't really have a problem with Best Buy though, I usually know exactly what I'm looking for and other options I have so I don't have to ask any questions, and if I need help getting something I make sure they know I'm there. Not like they can spit in your food or anything.

And why are they still in business?
b/c the average consumer is not well informed. There are times when I need something I am too busy/lazy to spend 1-2 hours looking for the best product with the best price. I can drive to my local bestbuy and start looking there. I'd rather save myself 2 hours than $20.
With the time saved, I'd make way more than $20 of my money back.
having said that, mostly I don't buy anything from bestbuy unless it's in the sunday ad. Even then, I spend 5 min on amazon and techbargain to compare price.
but the average shopper gets pretty good price from BB so they don't care. Especially the wealthy folks (soccer mom, retirees) around here.

I dlon't care for Best Buy because they just have tried to be the one stop shopping place for electronics, which leads to employees knowing enough to sell things but nobody that I have met has the kind of product knowledge thet y

4)Overpriced. You can get 95% of the crap they sell online, tax free, for 1/2 price. Why do people buy anything from there?
I'll state the obvious...online retailers don't have overheads like retail stores do!

I've never had a problem with BB, Circuit blows, but I've never had an issue with BB.

BB>> CC. Ofcourse - online is cheaper but when you want to check it out at the store then BB is pretty good. Like the OP said - don't expect great service. You better know the product you are shopping.

Eg, I was looking for a Canon G9. All major online stores were out of stock. Went to BB - they had 3. They charged me $25 more then online but I got to touch and feel the camera. It was worth it to me to go ahead and buy instead of waiting for another 3 weeks to save $25.

Whats BestBuy? I do 95% of NON foodshopping online and its great. I bought a Pioneer 5070 and my friend bought a 5071, the 5071 is BestBuy's way of beating price matching policy. They give you a second remote control and charge you $700 more...sounds fair.

i used to work there, in the camera department, and i knew my stuff, so much that i started working at ritz camera afterwards (retailer that only deals with camera sales) and ranked #3 / 85 my 2nd month in sales solely bc i was so tech savy and knew everything inside out.

so #1 isn't always true everywhere lol

I love my gf's employee discount - 5% over cost

And no, you can't beat their pricing on the stuff I used her discount for online. It's absolutely crazy the markup that BB puts on some of their stuff..

But I will say.. she works in the district office (not retail store) and the benefits and working environment are 10x better. The company REALLY treats them well in her office and is very generous with their pay and raises. I think she got 4 raises last year including a cost of living raise?

But I can certainly understand where everyone is coming from. I have gone into their Magnolia stores and gotten absolutely NO HELP from the associates.
