ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say an enraged driver opened fire on a 17-year-old boy after his Mercedes was egged on Halloween, fatally shooting the prankster in the neck and throat as he attempted to run away.

The teen was struck in a hail of 10 bullets around 8 p.m. Sunday when the car's driver confronted him, said Atlanta Police spokeswoman Kim Jones.

The victim, identified as Tivarus King, died en route to Grady Memorial Hospital, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office.

Jones said officers dispatched to the scene spotted a gold Mercedes driving by the northwest Atlanta crime scene and detained the driver.

She said the suspect was turned over to homicide investigators for questioning but has not yet been charged.

Yeah WAY over-reaction. I saw that news item and wondered at the "has not been charged" note. There has to be more to the story otherwise why would you not instantly charge the driver? Trying to figure out what to charge him with?!

 

Anyone who provokes anyone in today's world takes chances, sadly the lottery paid a bad dividend for that teenager.

 

I'm sure there's a WHOLE lot more to this story than just the part about him egging the car and getting shot. What led up to it?

Remember we're not talking a 12 year old kid trick or treating with his little sister in a neighborhood here.
