It's more then a hobby for me. I actually support 100's of laptops and guess what, they all seem to last just fine until their 3 year warranties expire. The Adamo is clearly better built than the Air. The screen on the Air flexes significant if you lift it from the corner. The Adamo doesn't do that.
I wasn't referring to the screen, I was referring to the chassis. I don't make it a habit of bending the screen while the notebook is open, but I am concerned about its durability when its in a backpack, suitcase or messenger bag.

Do you support a mix of Macs and PCs or just PCs?

[QUOTE=Elistan,Sep 9 2010, 02:45 PM]Similarly, I was trying to do some fact-checking on the pic that started this thread, and Voodoo laughs at me when he notices a mistake I made.

Okay, this is getting silly. We all know we can argue all day about this until we all turn blue and faint. I think it's best if we just hop in our cars, but the top down and go for a spin. I know that's what I'm going to do.

Unlike you PC users I don't have to fear "turning blue and fainting." My Mac has a feature that pops out an automatic defibrilator if I go into cardiac arrest. And an oxygen mask drops from my Mac Ceiling (it was announced only on Apple devices, sorry if you didn't get the Quicktime feed) when I've been huffing and puffing over interweb arguments and forget to breathe. I think Mr. Jobs ("The Chosen One") hinted that the next generation will have a 3-D virtual surgeon App that you can download from the iTunes App store, but it's only available through Kaiser Permanente for a $300/monthly access fee, and you can't ask him to do anything that he's not programmed to do.

Voodoo–

I've used hundreds of different Windows (meaning OS-based) laptops through friends, family, colleagues, classmates, demos in retail stores, etc. It's a hobby of mine and I also do frequent training on PCs with clients as well. I've also owned laptops from every major manufacturer and they all have fallen apart after a year or two of heavy use, not to mention dealing with the shitty OS.

The Adamo isn't as well built as the MacBook Air (its main competitor, not the MBP). It flexes when put under pressure (and isn't even as thin) and its keyboard doesn't give the same quality tactile feedback the MBA does. It may look cool, but that's not much of a factor to me vs. durability. I've also never used a trackpad on a "Windows" laptop that's as good as my MBP's.

Nunco–

I stand by my statement when I say that my MBP is the best built laptop I've worked with. I use it every day for work and personal/entertainment purposes so it gets very heavy use. You may want to re-read, as I mentioned not only Dell, but HP, Toshiba and Sony as well. Lenovo, Samsung, Gateway and Acer are other ones I've used.
Wow, the trackpad was great?! That's amazing!!

I have no idea what the hell you are doing to those laptops where they are not lasting more than 2 years.

And I'm really curious as to what you had to deal with concerning the "shitty" OS that was on them. I have a feeling it was mostly picnic related, but I will indulge.

Holy crap you couldn't be further from the truth.
They are based off the same code with a few minor tweaks in windows 7 to make it a little quicker...nothing major has changed.

Although not the main reason, but a big reason behind "windows 7" instead of just another service pack for vista was public and media preception. Not to say the general public knows anything but thanks to the media, everyone including grandma hated vista. Windows 7 had to be made to save their image.

Yes, the trackpad is great. Seemingly minute details are part of the reason why I am drawn to Apple, like tactile feel, build quality, durability. You can ridicule the idea all you want (trackpad), but it's the same reason people are drawn to an LS460 vs. a Genesis (sans the brand snobbery). Sorry, I'm not a fan of peeling shiny, greasy looking flimsy plastic that clicks like a Playskool toy (not that all of them have, but it's common).

And I said they fell apart, meaning falling off keys, broken ports, etc., not that they didn't last. Sooometimes they still turned on.

I don't work in construction, I just threw them across the room a few times when they pissed me off. That's probably why they broke.

Notice the whole OP post is based solely on hardware - it misses the point about Macs entirely. People that give them a fair shot know why they are so good, and don't need to explain the benefits to those that don't want to hear it.
I don't understand this argument. Why not get a normal desktop and install OSX on it? You save money on the hardware and still get the OS you love so much.
