Oldest Car
I remember those record players; boy, talk about skipping! I liked the old Chevies and Fords my friends had that they would install stolen drive-in movie speakers in to "upgrade" their sound systems, which usually consisted of an AM radio, period (After all, this was the early 60s).
My first car (my parents got it when I was 6 months old and gave it to me when I turned 16) - 1962 Volvo 122s.
Great car - loads of fun. Twin carbs that took years to learn how to tune them. Spent every day working on that car for at least 5 years. Loved every minute of it.

1972 Plymouth Satellite(The Green Machine, paid $375 for it)....4 doors, no hub caps(got those later), rust around the fender wells, dents everywhere. I could climb in the engine bay to change the plugs, rotor, etc. The thing ate starters. I bought a remanufactured one that had a 1 year warranty, and changed it out every 6 months or so for 3 years(the parts store started to keep it in stock for me, cuz they knew I would be coming in for one at least once a year!).
Okay, I'm only 27 but.......
a copper/bronze 1983 Toyota Starlet 5 spd with 100K miles, one of the smallest cars ever sold in the U.S. It had NO power steering, NO power brakes, NO air conditioning, a broken window, one of the old push button radios, vinyl and cloth seats, 13 inch wheels. Paid $300 and it ran well for 5 years, except for a slight tendency to break fan belts.
My parents have owned everything from a 1986 Corvette to a 55 T-Bird to a 62 Impala SS to an 88 RX-7 Convertible, etc etc etc
I currently own my 2nd and 3rd cars, with the 4th on order:
1986 Integra w/ 185,000 miles, owned almost 7 years
2000 S2000 w/ 19,500 miles, owned 1 1/2 years
2002 Mini Cooper.............due in March

1970 VW Fastback
Parents paid a whopping $200 for it for my 16th birthday present. (1986) They were going to surprise me with it but it was such a POS that I came home as they were trying to push it off a trailer and into the garage.
It had sat in a field for years and had grass growing out of the vents. Passenger fender was banged and the pass door would barely open if you really heaved on it. Floorboards rusted through. To top it off it was an Auto and had Fuel Injection. Two of the worst things that can be associated with early VWs.
But true to VW form, I dropped in a new battery and it coughed and sputtered out huge clouds of black smoke, and then it started.
After I pulled over on the side of the road because gas was shooting out of the fuel line and spraying the engine compartment, it was time to go. Traded it in for a 1979 Datsun 210. That Datsun ran like a top.
Wish I had that VW now that I have the time and money to restore it right.

64 VW Beetle bought in Germany by my dad. New in 1964, 1200 cc for $1200 with no options (those were hard times). Handed down to me for in 68 (better times). Great little ski car & love bug. Sucked a valve coming down a canyon at 90 mph in 1970.
