Awesome game even though Canada underperformed with all that superstar talent
Given that they beat the best the world had to offer, I don't know if that's a compliment to us Canadians or an insult to you (the rest of the world).

"You played below your potential....but you still beat us."

Still, as I've read elsewhere, Canada's offensive lines were ALL good. Teams were focusing on the first two lines and then the third and fourth lines were getting to play against the lesser players of other teams. Our third and fourth lines were practically as good as any first two lines on most teams, with a few exceptions, so I don't dispute that Canada should've won more easily than they did.

That said, team chemistry and "knowing" where the other players are is a big part of playing hockey. I played for quite a while and there's a lot more to a team than a bunch of individual superstars. If they can't play well together or their styles don't match up, they're much easier to beat than a team of lesser players that has good cohesion and excellent awareness of where and how players move. It wasn't until the third or fourth game that they really started clicking together.

i couldn't help but feel a little betrayed by eric staal yesterday, as he plays for my hometown (and 06 stanley cup champion) carolina hurricanes

one hell of a game though, for sure. disappointing for a US fan, but terrific for a hockey fan.

i also would have thought team US would have had a bit more momentum going into overtime...i guess the intermission killed it.

Most of your country is in the Arctic, so it's no surprise you're good at "Arctic" games. I'd be impressed if you guys could go to Africa and dominate the Africans in running or track and field.

"Hey Michael Jordan, what the hell is hockey?"
"I don't know, some Arctic game. I didn't even watch one game of the Arctic Olympics. But here's a dunk for ya!"

P.S. In the summer Olympics, you barely won any medals, and your first medal was won by a Vietnamese immigrant.

Summer Olympics - now, that's the real Olympic. That's why it's been around much longer. "The Winter Olympics were also created over 2 decades later due to the success of the summer Olympics."

The top ten ranked NOCs at these Games are listed below. The host nation, China, is highlighted.[69]
Rank ↓ Nation ↓ Gold ↓ Silver ↓ Bronze ↓ Total ↓
1 China (CHN) 51 21 28 100
2 United States (USA) 36 38 36 110
3 Russia (RUS) 23 21 28 72
4 Great Britain (GBR) 19 13 15 47
5 Germany (GER) 16 10 15 41
6 Australia (AUS) 14 15 17 46
7 South Korea (KOR) 13 10 8 31
8 Japan (JPN) 9 6 10 25
9 Italy (ITA) 8 9 10 27
10 France (FRA) 7 16 18 41
Stephanie, right?

BTW, the arctic circle is closer to Alaska than the Vancouver Olympic Games.

So you're talking about the 6 or 7 guys max on the field at once that look like fat-asses but still run and move faster than you?
Not a fan of football really, but they really are INSANE athletes. I can't believe how big those guys are and how fast they are.

On a different note, the closing ceremony embarassed me for several reasons.
Agreed. I was already a little uncomfortable with all the Oh Canada shit but was willing to let it slide in the spirit of the moment, the closing ceremony was that moment where you go from funny guy to ass clown; one hit too many on the maple tree.

Don't talk Geography with them, they will fail. The USA is getting more snow in total then all of Canada, this year. Hell look at Florida, not so warm anymore. We are in March and it's +7 out with no snow. Go figure. Times are changing, enjoy the snow suckers. LOL

Just some more info for ya. Yesterday's hockey game was the most watched Sports program in Canadian history. Also it had more viewers across the world then the Superbowl has ever had.

What a sport, what a game.
