well ranting is fine and I don't like illegal immigration either, but in terms of migration to the U.S. and their affect on the U.S., the historical Irish immigration to U.S. and current Mexican's immigration to the U.S. is very similar. Mexicans are hard workers..... living in Florida you see that. Read a history book before you climb on your high horse son.

gatecrasher: you seem like a smart guy, so i'll put this very simply. that statement about the mcdonalds incident is *completely false.* 100% bullshit. if you read what actually happened, i guarantee you'll be on the woman's side. i can give cliffnotes if you like.
however, the OP's story seems like total
frivolity.

frivolity.Coffee is made by passing BOILING water through a filter.
1)It is foreseeable that coffee is going to be a few degrees below boiling if fresh.
2)It is NOT normal to place coffee into your lap, while in a car.
3)SHE removed the top, not an employee.
4)She wasn't supposed to get the $20,000, McDonalds was not at fault.
As a result of this, laws were passed to make coffee/tea/hot drinks not exceed a certain temp, and as a result, coffee in the US tastes like ass. I have customers return tea all the time telling me the water isn't hot enough. I have to tell them "blame it on the McDonalds lady."

Well, honestly, that coffee was focking scorching. The lady was stupid and old yes, but the coffee was 180-190 degrees...that is piping hot. They also had plenty of other issues with people getting burned. Honestly, they should have designed safer cups because, lets face it, people are stupid and clumsy. McDonalds should have just paid her initial medical bill.
Next thing you know, assholes are suing because their pasta was too hot (boiled in boiling water) their soup is too hot, etc etc etc.
[QUOTE=Elistan,Oct 29 2009, 08:08 AM] There's a difference between "hot," like the cup of coffee I have beside me right now that's maybe 100 degrees and I could pour it over myself all day long without any injury at all, and "dangerously hot, enough to cause instant third degree burns requiring hospitalization and skin grafts."
