pimples acne i look like crap
Am I a dermatologist? No! But I was relaying what my friend said, who has studied acne for years and treats acne on a daily basis, and among other sources. Besides, I don't have acne anyway. I was just stating some myths.
you know, sometimes it has to do with mind over matter. I know stress has a lot to do with acne too. If you believe that something will work, well then it might. Did you know cancer patients were statistically more likely to live according to the length of distance they traveled to cure themselves? The further they went from home, the more likely they lived. Why? Mind over matter.
here's a free solution (or atleast partial solution) that I started doing in high school or college and got pretty darned good results with:
1) never drink any sodas. ever.
2) cut down on snack foods, esp. stuff that has either "partually hydrogenated ______" or "high fructose corn syrup"
3) drink lots of water
4) when you take a leak, if your urine is more than slightly yellow, do more #3.
nice thing is, this is free!

it really depends on your skin type, which products will work better to alleviate acne problems...
If you do use acne products, make sure to use moisturizer to keep your face from drying out, since that will irritate your skin more, and lead to more oil secretion from your sebum glands, and more clogged pores, more acne...
Ultimately, go see a dermatologist

i use differin gel. the stuff works wonders. the only time i ever have trouble with my face is when i touch it at work b/c of the oil. when im not at work im fine. use differein at night before sleep, and youl be fine. the stuff is very expensive though.
When I was in jr. high & high school, my dermatologist had me try every imaginable lotion, cream, and pill. Some helped slightly and others didn't do jack. After one of my friends went on Accutane w/ great results, I told my doc to put me on that. He did & it worked like a charm. Had to get blood tests monthly (which blew big time), but it was worth it. About 4 years later (in college), I went on it again, with awesome results. Accutane isn't for everyone - it's super expensive, dries your face out like a mofo, and (some claim) causes depression.
The one thing that I can say works great is drinking a LOT of water...I mean to the point that you're peeing like mad every 10 minutes or so. When I'd do that, I'd go through about 4 big Brita pitchers of water in a few hours each night. Like the others said, you want to do it to the point where when you pee, your urine is completely clear.
My sis has used Pro-Active for a while & has been really happy w/ the results.

I used to have pretty bad acne. Proactive worked wonders for me, as did cutting caffine and chocolate out of my diet. You can say its a myth, but it DEFINATELY made a difference when I stopped eating chocolate and drinking soda. Generally the only soda I drink is sprite. But PROACTIVE, you can buy it for like $40 and it should last at least 2 months
