Portable GPS revisited
i have an old ipaq5550 pda + mapapolous street software + a clip-on bluetooth gps receiver. all this portable, fits in a packet, backpack and use it on a motorcycle. the display is daylight readable, the voice prompts make the display not necessary, i can download maps for all n-america, maybe europe.
the microsoft os and software is way unstable, lots of bugs but all this 2+years old
other than the instability... once the thingy is setup it runs beyond perfect. i would expect it today's product would be perfection?

Use www.pricegrabber.com. You can get the Nuvi 350 for $424 shipped. I bought mine from Butterflyphoto.com in December for $440 shipped and that was the cheapest I could find a few months ago. For $424, it's a pretty good deal.
That's a good deal.
I bought one at PCNation.com for $441 shipped. One thing though, it definitely could use an outside antenna. There are times were it detects the vehicle driving on the hudson river.

has anybody with GPS experience tried out VZW Navigator from Verizon? It's a downloadable program that you pay $10/month for; I demo'd it for the free two weeks and I loved it. Is there alot to these big $$$$ units that you don't get with a program like this on a cell phone?
