Right now I solely write VHDL for FPGAs, CPLDs, and test benches. Recent/current projects include fly by wire, flight control, and engine control systems. In the past I have done embedded sw w/ ABEL and Verilog. Also x86 ASM for embedded systems. I know C extremely well and have used it for embedded microprocessor programming, but I do nothing or the sorts anymore.

I'm not formally trained in any language but I had to learn Perl, SQL and relational database design, and website development for my job. It spilled over into a hobby and here are a few things I've developed in MySQL and Perl CGI.pm & DBI.pm. The V92C Messages database was populated with a web client and parser I wrote to pull messages down from a YooHoo club. The Image Resizer uses ImageMagick as a backend.

PLES2K
what you are trying to do is integration isn't it?
if not, I remember "stemming" graphs in matlab and you can approximate areas under a graph, I can't remember on top of my head though.

for everybody else, what's a reasonable starting salary for a computer engineering master (VLSI design)? I can code in C++, perl, VHDL and verilog. Just got my master's degree in computer engineering and finance, and decided not to continue with PH.D, but I've only been getting offers for less than 50k, is that normal?
