Pulled Over & Discriminated
The head state trooper in NJ was fired by the governor Whitman 2 years ago (I think) for racial profiling.
That cop was jealous of you; the S2k is such a beautiful machine in any color. It attracts people's attention of all ages, whether standing still in a parking lot or cruising by. I can't even tell you how many times I would be walking back to my car (from Dunkin Dounuts, mall, etc.) and I would either see people standing next to it staring at it (and I would over hear them say "wow, what is that?"), my favorite though is when they ask me "Is that a Honda?!, wow, I thought it was a Porsch", thats when I say to myself, "yeah it sure as hell looks like 50 grand!.
Ok, so it is no Ferrari or whatever, but I strongly believe that it is the best performance (and looking) car you can buy for the money.

I'm 52 and have the fastest motorcycle in the neighborhood (modified vfr800) and fastest roadster in the neighborhood (2001 s2000 - arrest me red).
Your never too old to appreciate premium machinery that makes you feel good.

I'm 17 ( was 16 when I first got the car). I own the car, my dad and I split the payments each month. Thats how I can fford to have this car. I am very grateful that I have this car. I love it.
Ok, it's time for me to add my two cents worth. Being a law enforcement officer I've got to tell you that first, I don't pull anyone over for a whim. Probable cause can be as little as you driving erratically, weaving in traffic, flickering tail light, excessive noise, flicking a cigarette out the window, running a caution light etc., etc., etc.
I can't say what the officers reasons were for in this circumstances but it is required for him to give a reason for the stop. Ie., Mr. So and So I've stopped you for the following reasons. Remember, he can stop you also if he has a report of a stolen car matching your description. Any number of reasons. Please, don't run the minority thing and being young. That's not the deal in most cases. Cops are human also don't forget. I'm 46 and drive an S2K also. Think back before the stop, be truthful with yourself, were you weaving in and out of traffic? Did you excellerate quickly from a light? Does your S2K have an exhaust that is louder than stock? Was there any reason you can think of before he pulled you over. Remember he is an observer not a participant. We are trained to be that way. It's hard sometimes for drivers to observe every action they take. Are you getting what I saying?
To say this doesn't happen occassionally would be a lie. Some cops have a problem utilizing authority properly. This could be the case. But because I'm bias I am going to have to say I don't think so in this case. If I stop you it's for a good reason. What I don't want you to do is connect this everytime you see a cop. Not all cops do things like this. Contrary to belief we don't believe we are superior. We know the law and enforce it for good reason. Most of us are just like you. Take the time to talk to us once in a while we won't bite your head off. Now we may chew on it for awhile!

S2kFan,
I've run into a similar situation when I was 19 while attending the University of Texas at Austin. I was just finishing an oil change on my 81 RX-7 at my apartment when a policeman parked his patrol car in front of me. He drew his gun on me and asked me to get out of the car with my hands up. He walks towards me and handcuffs me. I asked him what I did and he said that he saw me climbing out of a window close to where I was parked. He took some pictures of me and finally let me go when my apartment manager came over to identify me as a tenant. According to my lawyer, this was all justified and is labeled as a "field arrest".
I'll never forget that day for as long as I live. Being Hispanic, or any other minority, does have it's little quirks. Unfortunately, racial bigotry is still alive and well in 2001.

S2K Fan,
There have been several age threads. There are at least 2 owners who are 17, and about half a dozen under 20 years old. I think the oldest is 67.
My story: I got lost coming home from the airport a few months after coming to Phoenix. I ended up in a fairly bad Hispanic neighborhood (between 24th and Roosevelt and Van Buren, for the Phx guys). When I made a u-turn to try to find my way back the way I had come, I was stopped by a cop and got a 5 minute lecture on drugs, being where I didn't belong, and what a cop assumes about a white guy in that neighborhood.
I call that my "Driving while white" incident.

I was 18 when my parents bought me the S2K (my dad's first car was a Honda S500 or something like that, so
). Sadly, I've been 19 since last Saturday. I say sadly because I still wish I was 18 (it's the average male's sexual peak,
). Anyway, while the title and insurance are not in my name, I'm making half of the payments and eventually, later down the line, I'll probably be making the payments completely by myself.
As for the traffic stop, c'mon now Marcus -- you have a Veilside S2000. That's gotta draw some attention

True story:
Couple of weeks ago, while parking in a plaza(billiard room) with around 10-12 imports. We were just chit-chatting about racing etc.... 2 cops pulled in there vehicle and staring to creep through the parking lot. Everyone was in their places, there is nothing illegal about standing in the parking lot. One of them got out of the car and went straight to my friend's yellow s2k. He asked for the owner and told him *I'm going to write you a ticket for loitering
* But here's the catch from mr. officer. *If you let me drive you car, then i'll let you go clean.* I have clue why did my friend agreed to this. He got in the car revved a few times and took off. OMG
, this guy BEAT the heck out of the S. He basically bounce off the red-limiter every gear. You can still her him 1/2 mile away ( have to say-he's a good driver because he drove it like he hated, never hear the S that loud before). He made a total of 3 passes, returned the car and leave. What a sad night...
