Really old school - does anyone remember?
I had a KYOSHO DOUBLEDARE. it was a Nissan Pickup truck with 4wd and 4ws. I got it in about 1992. Biggest piece of shit ever. I think i had $500+ into that thing when all was done and it would still roll at practically any speed.

My neighbor wired 2 of the 7 cell batteries together so it woudl run faster but only last about 5 minutes..... it had "dogbone" looking driveshafts at all 4 wheels which would pop out when you wreck... plus wear out quickly.... a big money pit.
Neighbor guy had a USA-1 which he got a Sassy Chassy, custom made a bunch of stuff... his was awesome, but still a piece of shit that flipped.... i think he had well over $1k into his back then.... 2 oil filled shocks per corner = ~$200 in shocks alone.

I currently have a Traxxas Rustler that is now 8+ years old and seen better days....it has the stupid mechanical speed control....blaaa...

My first R/C was a Tamiya stadium thunder, boy all I wanted was that Hornet in the local hobby shop.
Im so brand loyal, I had over 12 tamiyas pass through my hands.
3 or so TGX, 2 stadium thunders, 1 hornet, 3 TGRs, 4 TNX's/TNXR, 2 TA04's, TRF 414M.
I loved them and spent a lot of my child hood earnings on things to make them go faster, till they went so fast I would be scared to use them.

Good thread....
1. Nikko Turbo Panther (this started the R/C obsession)
2. Kyosho Javelin
3. Tamiya Tom's 84C (on road)
4. Team Associated RC 12 (on road)
5. Team Associated RC 10L (on road)
6. Team Losi Stadium Truck
7. Kyosho Turbo Optima
8. Kyosho Optima Mid
9. HPI RS4 Pro 4 (on road)
All electric, and with the exception of the Team Associated RC 12, all were 10th scale.
Anyone remember the old school magazine adverts of the Big Bear, Hunter, or the Samurai?
Also, I had a handful of Futaba and Pulsar transmitters, Novak and Tekin speed controls, and only used Trinity motors.

Ah yes the Trinity motors, I remember that I first had a Trinity Gold to replace a 380 motor. I then traded that for money and a Trinity Green motor which gave more torque (loved doing burnouts in the dirt).

I remember my first buggy was a KYOSHO.
I loved every part of that thing. I even had the old school speed controller that was servo operated. You know, it had an arm like a record player and ran it over a little pipe with copper coils.

That was tons of fun! I used to turn the car on before the controller and the throttle would go nuts!Tamiya Super Champ ftw!
the attention to detail in the parts was amazing they even had a external tank in the back for the shock!

and the Subaru Brat!
I went to THIS SITE and just had a huge smile plastered on my face. Looking through all of those classic Tamiya cars brought such great memories back. 14 years old, working in the garage tweaking these cars and waiting 15 minutes for the battery to charge....hahahaha.
