An admirable response! I am uncertain if I would have had enough composure to NOT let him get arrested, but I applaud your decision, especially because it was based on self realization that we are all a little bit selfish when on the roads and maybe we all contribute a bit to some of these incidents.

Just looking at the replies on this thread shows how many S2000 folks there are that I would NOT want to even accidentally cut off. I cant imagine what proportion of the general driving public (read: mostly idiots) would respond violently.

I see part of myself in those who would want revenge, and have on occasion ran folks off the road for pulling crap on me. I hope I have outgrown it now...scary to think about now.

Stun guns rock!

They are highly illegal here but I have built a few in the past couple of years.

The problem with mine are that I'm not whether or not they are lethal.

There is nothing like 75000 volts to make someone lose their aggressiveness!

I don't know, a 230 grain .45 hollow point does a pretty good job of that too.

One of the most shocking things about the situation was a comment the Police (woman) made when she got to the scene and asked what happened. The guy spoke up and admitted what he did...she looked at him, looked at my car, looked at the damage and then looked at me and said "you haven't killed him yet?". Then she proceeded to chew the guy out saying that GA has new road rage laws because of idiots like him.

As for letting him go....If he refuses to pay I'll have to sue him one way or the other, so I figure he is a lot more likely to be able to pay for the damage if he's not in jail. I have his address and phone number, too.

johnnyboy - You might want to let your insurance agent know about this incident. If he doesn't pay, they can go after him and you won't have to do anything. Whenever I've had damage done to my car that wasn't my fault, I've reported it to my agent. He only files a claim if he has to (if the guy doesn't pay). After that, the insurance company goes after him. After all, that's what you pay them for. Might as well use their lawyers and not waste your time.

Ditto, Johnny. I'm glad there's people like you out there on the roads with me. You did the right thing IMO.
