Have to take the cops side, he did the right thing and got fired for stupid shit?! Probably some idiot woman administrator that fired him...
Wow. Have you tried taking Midol or something for that?

Some dumb cop wannabe runs off without telling anyone where he is going, and uses the "cop down" excuse but he forgot not only to tell anyone where he is going, but that he is not actually a police officer but merely a campus security guard. Gee, why did he get fired? Could it be for taking off during his shift and not telling anyone where he is going? Is it remotely possible that most people would get fired for the same reason?

And apparently Kyushin's mom didn't hug him enough or something. I'm not sure when it became socially acceptable to blame women everywhere for Kyushin's personal issues, but apparently I didn't get the memo...

Well it's good to know that if you're ever being shot at or in danger you'll be more at ease with the knowledge that the police officer is doing the necessary paperwork.

What a tool.

If you had read the damn article, you would have seen that it said "police officer" and not "security guard".

If you had read the article, you'd have read the part where he was a security guard at Rice University.

And he was fired for not informing his dispatch about his whereabouts. Any questions as to why he is a security guard at Rice University and not working for a major metropolitan police force? Hint: it's in the part where he neglected to tell dispatch where he was at a time when such information was foremost in people's minds. When an officer is shot, or anyone is shot, it's kind of important to know who is responding and where they are. The last thing you need is a moron running around with a badge and a gun and nobody knows anything about him.

The guy f@#ked up. The fact that he was fired by a woman gives Kyushin fits because more than police, he hates women, if one can believe it. I'd fire the guy's ass too, for simple failure to follow what is arguably the single most important and SIMPLE task the guy had - to let people know where he was. That female administrator did better in her job than Kyushin would for the fact that she acted out of logic and rational thought whereas Kyushin would become too emotional over the whole "officer down" scenario and give the guy a pass just because it made him feel good.

If the security guard with a degree in law enforcement had just acted with a modicum of forethought and competence and remembered his training, the university would be patting him on the back. Since he acted like an idiot, he was fired. It's pretty simple, but people with knee-jerk reaction syndrome will never grasp the concept.

Like firing someone because , oops they forgot to inform dispatch. Considering your calling him a rent a cop, you'd think they expect these 'rent a cops' might not always get it right...

Eh, this cop/rent-a-cop probably ticketed 5 s2000s for front window tint that same week.
He deserves to be fired.

I have to agree with those who are saying the cop did the wrong thing by doing the right thing. Yes, it's good that he went to the aid of other police officers. All in all though, he should have notified dispatch, and he should have realized that his responsibility is for the school and the students.

Rice is 2 miles from downtown Houston...he did the wrong thing.

It was a Saturday on campus when David Sedmak, a Rice University police officer, heard "Officer down, officer down!"
I couldn't believe that after being in law enforcement for nearly 17 years...
Both Meza and Moore were at a news conference Monday to show their support for Sedmak, a former Galveston police officer.

Let's read the whole article people.
