Why is calling the police or FBI "retarded"? If they indeed turn out to be terrorists, you've just saved a countless number of lives. If they overstayed their VISA, well they shouldn't be here anyways. If everything checks out, then no harm, no foul.

All those 'What IFs' could be correct, and they might also BE terrorists, but just because they are muslim, single, stay up late, sleep on a sheet, have no window covers, lived quietly and exposed themself innocently to their nosey neighbor by their lack of cover does not make them terrorists.

I wouldn't want to live in a world where people are spying/calling on their neighbors.

To the original poster, If you had balls, you would have became friends with your own neighbors and see who they are and why they don't have garbage service. Maybe they are not aware they should or they may have language problems. In which case you could use your skills to help them out as a friend, than complain about them on an online forum like a pussy, or worse, an enemy. Someone should raise the question on the kind of human being you are.

 

Wow...lots of responses all over the map. Look guys, i didn't start this thread to have people calling each other names and what not.

To clarify a few things:

1) Being that our homes are 10 ft apart from their wall to our wall, we are in very close proximity of each other. I don't sit by the window hours at a time and stare into their home. It's just what i've noticed opening/closing my windows, or looking in that direction from somewhere in my home throughout the 6 months since i've lived there.

2) I've seen them praying throughout the night/day and they are dressed in the attire so i'm assuming that they are muslim. I apologize if this is an incorrect assumption and if I had offended someone.

3) I'm not saying that ALL muslims are terrorists, so please do not take this as if I had singled them out. That's why I debated on whether or not to even put down race/religion/faith. Would you guys have thought different if I listed something else?

4) I believe they drive a TL and an Accord.

5) I've never seen anyone else in their home except for the two of them. No visitors, no friends, no one ever parked in front of their home (Maybe they're throwing parties when i'm at work?) who knows.

6) When I first moved in, the mailman delivered one piece of mail belonging to them to our address. I walked over there, both of them answered the door. I kindly introduced myself and gave them their letter back. They didn't introduce themselves nor did they thank me. They nodded and quickly closed the door. Oh well, i didn't think anything of it.

How am I complaining about them? I had some concerns and wanted to know other people's opinions.

At what point would you call someone? Would you wait until you actually see something in the act, then call it in?

Anyhow, I'm going to talk to the neighbor that lives next to them and go from there. I've got a buddy that's a sheriff but I don't want to really say anything to him yet. Maybe i've got the picture all wrong. (hopefully)

We live in a different time where we have to be alert about our surroundings. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if something did happen knowing that it could have possibly been prevented with a simple call.

 

Babak, I really don't want to get into an argument over civil rights and homeland security with you on the internet as these things tend to go down hill very fast. You've already started and secured that fate with your un-provoked use of name calling and stubborn adoration to a poorly based argument.

I can't believe anyone is on here yelling at him for trying to get some perspective on the situation. At no point did he insult his neighbors, not did he act first and think later. We should all be vigilant, and yes, sometimes that vigilance might make you question what you next move should be (if any).
However, i don't know what I'd do in your case. It sounds weird to me a little, but I guess sadly, if they were white Germans over there acting weird, I wouldn't think too much of it. But considering the foe we've been dealing with for a little while now share a common trait, it makes it tough not to include that in your appraisal of a situation. That said, in general it's kind of terrible what power a small group of ____ can do to damage the way everyone looks at ____.
