Default So does everybody hate to shift gears?

Over the weekend I went and test drove an 02 Altima.
I wanted an SE V6(240hp) with a 5speed. So the sales guy said no problem.
So he gets on his computer keys in the info of the car I wanted and he found two.
One in NY and the other in Cali??? If I order it it will take 90days.
Nobody even had a V6 5spd I could test drive.
Are people are just too lazy to shift?

Yup, we are in America. I'll bet the 5 speed Altima with the bigger engine will be hard to find. Try the The 6 speed Maxima -- I think they are easier to find. The Nissan throws are very long though.

Sports car owners love the control afforded by the manual tranny. However, luxury car byuyers for the most part do not. They want sport and luxury all rolled into one car. My wife's Accord V6 was only available in one model. As you guessed it's an automatic.

Shifting gears in a rear-drive car with a strong engine is one thing, shifting gears in a front-drive car with a strong engine is another thing altogether (torque steer)!

I'ts hardly worth making a fuss about it with front-drive cars, IMO

With proper engineering they can dial out torque steer.
Did you ever drive a Sentra SER? Granted it wasn't 240hp but it was pretty peppy and a blast to drive.
Besides my wife refuses to drive an auto, even though they are harder to resell.

I do wish the Altima was RWD and the Maxima wasn't so ugly(6 spd )
