If not racist, it's at least inflamatory, and I don't think it's a stretch to say that much...

and besides, NUKING two of their cities isn't enough for Spencer? 4,000 plus lives in Pearl Harbour versus 140,000 plus live in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Defending ignorance is as bad as being PC.

I wonder if he would drive, should Toyota end up being the only company willing to sponsor him.

I can agree with that. But, I cannot assume what Spencer meant by the statement, I can only analyze what he actually said, not what he meant. The argument I was trying to make was that Spencer's statement, although in poor taste, was based on an actual, tangible fact. The argument that Spencer is a redneck because of his comments does not hold water. He may be a redneck for other reasons, but none of these reasons were disclosed in his qoute. But pigeonholing Spencer, or anyone else, as a bigot because of that statement is unfair. Like I said before, rampant political correctness.

Also, the whole thing could have been concocted to produce more publicity for Toyota's intro into the circuit.

As i stated earlier, NASCAR is not too far off from the WWE. Is anyone offended by the actions and stereotypes portrayed in professional wrestling?

So, given that his statement isn't enough to label him a bigot or racist, what WOULD it take to be able to do so?

I was right there with you until this. I think he DID go into his personal belief system when he called them sons of bitches and yet conveniently left out that we got "revenge" for that act later in the war...

same as i mentioned earlier...something overtly racist (names or stereotypes used in a manner meant to be hurtful) or false (such as a fabrication to intentionally discredit a group or race of people).

I dont think Spencer meant to be hurtful, but then again I dont know. For all I know, Spencer could be a Grand Wizard in the KKK. I liken Spencer's comments more to that of trash-talk towards a new rival, not as a declaration of hatred towards an enitire race of people.
