imo Star Trek does need a reinvention and Abrams is probably the right guy (sci-fi, comic geek with some experience doing big movies).

Can't wait to see it!

My pick is SW1, since ST5 is shorter and doesn't have a Jar-Jar. I do give SW1 the pod race and Sith fights (SW sword fighting doesn't bug me at all). But at least ST5 is quick even if the story is thin and cheesy, and the resolution at the end is a total oh-come-on.

FX-wise it's hard to compare a 1999 movie to a 1989 movie.

I cant give ST5 a pass EVER

Spocks brother searching for Shakari only to find a pasty floating head at the end of the journey is unforgivable

ST1 was a better film and that one sucked hind tit
