I don't know how many of you work in the investment business, but I do ... my advice is to buy now. No matter what is going on in the world, it is never a bad idea to invest, but do so wisely with adequate research. By that I mean, buy some stocks, buy some funds, buy some bonds ... catch my drift? By doing this you can profit from nearly ANY situation, good or bad. Everyone talks about "diversifying" their portfolios, but the truth of the matter is that not enough people do and some people don't do it right. If you are still scared to dump money in what you think is an entirely uncertain market, buy some stuff you can count on, like government backed/treasury backed securities. We'll all get out of this financial scramble together. Be optimistic and remember to keep spending your money! We ARE consumers afterall, aren't we?

i say let's spend money. spend spend spend! like mayor Giuliani said: the best way to help NYC's economy (and the world's economy for that matter) is to spend money. Consumer spending is what keeps the world go around.

Uncertainty is your friend not your foe. You want to be a contrarian in the market. That is, when the masses are selling like crazy, you just sit back and buy a little of what you like here and there, and hold on to it. Then when the masses are buying anything and everything at rediculous valuations, you start selling things little by little.

So, if you're going to buy, start small, and if the market contracts further, buy some more. Eventually, your patience and persistence will pay off handsomely.

I'd also highly recommend you look in other places than tech.

Good time to buy Defense stocks but not Boeing. Go for second tier suppliers, LLL,ect. Even LMT is better positioned than Boeing.

I just can't see buying in at this very moment.

The economic ripple effect has yet to be seen. Earnings will slump, demand is low. Just open your eyes and look around. Stocks are cheap, and they're going to get cheaper.

Hello everyone,

I have found the Motley Fool a good resource to get a better understanding of some basic investment concepts.

Good luck.
