Thanks for the brief recap of scientific history.
You're somewhat wrong, though, in assuming what the Next Big Theory will be like.
General relativity is an extension of newtonian mechanics -- a superset. Similarly, we expect the Next Big Theory to be an extension, or superset, of quantum mechanics. It would be rather shocking for the Next Big Theory to instead be a regression, and remove the uncertainty relations.
